Sri Saraswathi Nrityalaya

The Art of Bharatnatyam

A traditional Bharatnatyam school dedicated to preserving the ancient art of Indian classical dance through the sacred guru-shishya parampara. We nurture dancers of all ages in the timeless traditions of Nritta, Nritya, and Natya.

Our Tradition

Bharatnatyam is one of the oldest classical dance forms of India, originating in the temples of Tamil Nadu over 2,000 years ago. Rooted in the Natya Shastra, it is a harmonious blend of Bhava (expression), Raga (melody), Tala (rhythm), and Rasa (aesthetic emotion).

At Sri Saraswathi Nrityalaya, we follow the traditional Thanjavur style of Bharatnatyam, passed down through an unbroken lineage of masters. Our curriculum encompasses the complete Margam — from the rhythmic brilliance of Alarippu to the devotional depths of Thillana.

Nritta

Pure dance — rhythmic movements and footwork that celebrate the beauty of form and geometry.

Nritya

Expressive dance — storytelling through abhinaya, where emotion and gesture bring poetry to life.

Natya

Dramatic dance — theatrical presentation combining dance, music, and narrative in a unified art form.
